Who we are

Our website address is: http://autisticpro.com.

The Autistic pro website and Community Forum is a gathering place focused on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) research and support for those impacted by ASDs. The following information applies to posting on the website and forum on this website.

Please do not post on the Autistic pro Community Forum (or post a comment on an article) unless you are at least 18 years of age.
Please note: Information posted on the Autistic pro Community Forum is not confidential. You should be aware that any personally identifiable information you submit here can be read, collected, or used by other users of this forum, and could be used to send you unsolicited messages. For your own protection, please do not post personal information such as addresses or phone numbers. We are not responsible for any personally identifiable information you choose to submit despite this notification.

By using the Autistic pro Community Forum, you acknowledge and agree to abide by the following policies and rules:
Users are solely responsible for the content of the messages they post. Information posted is the opinion of the author and does not represent the views of Autistic pro. Discussion of any particular medication, educational program, treatment strategy, or provider of services in this forum does not indicate endorsement from Autistic pro and does not constitute medical advice.
Posted messages may contain links to other websites and files. Autistic pro has no control over the content of these and cannot ensure it will not be offensive or objectionable to the user. The autistic pro forum administrators, however, may remove links to certain offensive or objectionable material as they become aware of them.
Messages are the property of Autistic pro and messages which do not include any personally identifiable information may be reused for other purposes without prior consent.
Considering the real-time nature of this forum, it is impossible for the Autistic pro Community Forum administrators to review all messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Autistic pro does not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and is not responsible for the contents of any message.
Users may not post any material which is defamatory, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of another person’s privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law, including copyright law.

Users may not post argumentative messages or messages that are posted for the sole purpose of starting or maintaining arguments with other users. (There are many controversial topics in the world of autism. These may be discussed, but must be discussed civilly and only to the extent such discussions remain on topic, and do not disrupt the purpose of the Autistic pro Community Forum: to provide an informative on-line community for those coping with ASDs.)

Spamming (posting the same message over and over again) and flaming (the act of posting messages that are deliberately hostile and insulting) are expressly forbidden.
Messages used to conduct polls, research, or otherwise gather information from users, or that contain advertising, product promotion, promotion of professional services, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or other solicitations, or links to any of the above, are not permitted.

Distribution of viruses, worms, Trojan horses or other harmful computer code via this forum and blogs is not permitted.
Messages that appear to impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent a user’s affiliation with a person or entity, are not permitted.
The administrators of the Autistic pro website and Community Forum have the right to remove, edit, or move to another thread or topic area any message without consent of the author.
Any user who feels that a posted message or blog comment is objectionable is encouraged to contact the Autistic pro Community Forum administrators. The administrators have the ability to remove objectionable posts and will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if it is determined that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that the message may not be removed or edited immediately, or at all. Autistic pro is authorized by you to remove or modify any data submitted by you to these forums and blogs for any reason, including but not limited to cases when the Autistic pro administrators believe they constitute a violation of the Community Forum rules of use, whether stated, implied, or not.

Autistic pro maintains the right to permanently remove from our membership list any member who is deemed in violation of these rules.
Autistic pro reserves the right to reveal a user’s identity (or other information) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by the user, or as otherwise permitted by law.
Cookies must be turned on in your internet browser to participate as a user in the Autistic pro Community Forum. Cookies are used to save your username and password and viewing options, allowing you to log in. For more information about our use of cookies, please see our Privacy Policy.

Autistic pro, and our partners shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or other damages arising out of any individual’s use of, or inability to use, the information posted on the Autistic pro Community Forum.

Autistic pro reserves the right to modify or change these rules of use without prior notification to current or new users.
By using the Autistic pro Community Forum, you attest that you, the user, are 18 years of age or older, and that you agree to abide with all the terms, conditions, policies, and rules stated above.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it?

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select "Remember Me", your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with?

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data?

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data?

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data?

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
